Job summary

East Hartford Public Schools is seeking a Paraeducator at East Hartford High School to provide instructional and behavioral support under SPED administration. The primary role is to assist in implementing individualized education programs (IEPs) and support the physical, emotional, and educational needs of students in various instructional settings.

The position requires an associates degree or 60 college credits or passing the ETS ParaPro assessment, and offers a part-time schedule of 6.25

Qualifications

• Associates degree or 60 college credits required or proof of ParaPro.
• Experience or ability to implement IEPs and support students with SPED needs.
• Strong communication with classroom staff and flexibility in instructional settings.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, organize, and distribute instructional materials and equipment.
• Maintain a safe, organized classroom environment.
• Support curriculum-based activities and student learning.
• Reinforce lessons in small groups or one-on-one with students.
• Assist with students' physical and emotional needs, including mobility and self-care.
• Score objective tests and assist in materials preparation under teacher supervision.
• Supervise students during field trips, playground, and meals.
• Assist students on and off buses or vans safely.
• Support classes in music, art, and physical education as needed.
• Provide information about routines and student needs to substitute staff.
• Communicate regularly with the classroom teacher to align goals and progress.
• Participate in professional development and in-service training.
