Job summary

Barton Community College seeks a Coordinator/Academic Advisor for the Great Bend office. You will assist participants facing barriers, coordinate advising, admissions, and financial aid, and travel to partner agencies to foster relationships.

You will conduct weekly visits to local correctional facilities to support educational goals and provide individualized support to adult learners in higher education settings; collaborate with a team to ensure a student‑centered approach.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and a valid driver’s license required; a master’s degree preferred.
• Experience working with adult populations in a higher education setting.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work productively as part of a team.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Assist participants in overcoming obstacles to increase the number of disadvantaged students completing secondary education and entering post‑secondary institutions.
• Travel to partner agencies during the day to build and maintain relationships.
• Conduct weekly visits to local correctional facilities to support incarcerated individuals with their educational goals.
• Collaborate with a team to coordinate academic advising, admissions, and financial aid processes.
• Provide individualized support to adult populations in higher education settings.
