Job summary

Cedar Rapids Community School District is seeking an Engagement Specialist to advocate for student success by removing barriers through behavioral, attendance, and family-centered interventions. You will work within the MTSS framework to ensure every student can engage with their education and reach their full potential.

The role emphasizes PBIS leadership, collaboration with staff and families, and data-driven supports.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in human services or related field required.
Minimum two years of work experience in social service programs serving youth and families.
Valid Iowa Driver's License and satisfactory driving record.

Responsibilities

Participate actively in PBIS and behavior intervention meetings to support school-wide systems.
De-escalate behaviors with a trauma-informed approach and help reintegrate students into the classroom.
Engage families at school, home, or community to address student needs using an assets-based lens.
Monitor attendance and behavior data; implement proactive support plans.
Maintain accurate records of interactions with students and families to ensure continuity of care.
Support staff by sharing strategies aligning behavioral and attendance interventions with academics.
Provide up to 30 minutes daily supervision duties (e.g., lunch, recess) and model positive behavior.
Collaborate with staff to maintain a unified approach to student success.
