Job summary

Hendry Success Academy in Labelle, Florida seeks a Resource Counselor to support grades 6-12 students as an alternative to expulsion. You will guide coursework completion, monitor progress, and coordinate with district staff and community partners to facilitate successful re-entry when appropriate.

The position emphasizes case management, attendance tracking, and collaboration with four secondary schools’ discipline teams to ensure student well-being and academic success.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalence; college coursework preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of two years working with at-risk youth, preferably in education or an alternative school setting.
• Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Understanding of adolescent development; strong communication, de-escalation, rapport-building, data tracking, and record-keeping; knowledge of curriculum and diverse instructional strategies; ability to work independently and in a team; strong organizational and time management; commitment to student success.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic support to students in grades 6-12 across various subjects; assist with understanding concepts and completing assignments.
• Monitor student progress; identify challenges; communicate progress with parents.
• Facilitate access to online learning platforms and educational resources.
• Help students develop study habits, time management, and self-advocacy.
• Case management: oversee adherence to stipulated agreements; track attendance, behavior, and progress; document interactions.
