Job summary

Northeast Ohio College Preparatory School in Cleveland, Ohio, seeks an Academic Support Specialist to help students achieve academic success in a rigorous, nurturing environment.

You will collaborate with the Director of Academics, teachers, and families to identify at-risk students, develop action plans, coordinate RTI/MTSS efforts, and promote social-emotional learning and college-prep outcomes across EK-12 settings in Cleveland.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Guidance & Counseling with School Counseling Endorsement on a Valid Ohio Teaching Certificate.
• Bachelor’s Degree with Valid Teaching Certificate.

Responsibilities

• Meet with students who are at-risk for retention each marking period and formulate an action plan for academic success with student and parent/guardian involvement.
• Plan and promote programs which enhance academic, social, or emotional growth (e.g., Career Fair, Honors Program, scholarship opportunities and parent informational programs).
• Support the educational and behavioral goals of all students, including those with IEPs or English language learners.
• Collaborate with the Director of Academics, Parent Liaison, and Dean of Students on students referred for discipline, attendance, and academic challenges.
• Implement culturally responsive teaching practices and school-wide culture expectations.
• Communicate regularly with families regarding academic and social-emotional growth and monitor student eligibility for extracurricular activities.
• Assist and coordinate RTI and MTSS programs and develop 8th grade to high school programming.

Education

Master’s Degree in Guidance & Counseling with School Counseling Endorsement on a Valid Ohio Teaching Certificate
