Job summary

New Beginnings High School (NBHS) seeks a Teacher Assistant to provide instructional and operational support to teachers and students. The role reinforces content, aids in student mastery, and contributes to a structured, academically focused learning environment.

Responsibilities include assisting with classroom operations, monitoring behavior, supervising field trips, and supporting differentiated academic support. The position may involve virtual instruction and community outreach as needed.

Qualifications

• 60 college credits or an AA/AS degree or passing Paraprofessional Exam.
• Experience in instructional support or youth development preferred.
• Ability to support diverse learners in structured environments.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Must pass Level 2 background check and fingerprinting clearance.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily classroom operations per school expectations and standards.
• Monitor, assist, and document student behavior.
• Supervise students on campus and during field trips.
• Support classroom environment and other areas of instruction for safety, care, and enrichment.
• Support teachers in delivering and reinforcing instructional content.
• Provide differentiated small-group academic support to promote mastery.
• Monitor student participation, engagement, and progress.
• Assist in administering assessments, assignments, and activities.
• Maintain attendance and performance documentation, including grading and participation.
• Provide timely communication to teachers regarding student performance and progress.
• Support virtual instruction meeting connections.
• Attend planning and debriefing meetings.
• Assist with uploading course completions into the SIS.
• Attend community service and outreach activities.
• Assist with recruitment, marketing, and retention of students.
• Provide excellent customer service.
• Enhance instructional materials using technology for assigned tasks.
• Support NBHS via home visits.
• Review and update the Teacher Assistant Reference & Procedures Manual.
