Job summary

The University of Washington invites applications for a Counseling Services Coordinator in the Sociology Department. You will support the new Social Data Analytics MS program, coordinating recruitment, admissions, capstone projects with community partners, and ongoing student advising throughout the program.

You’ll work with the program director and faculty to deliver high‑quality academic counseling, career placement support, and program administration for a diverse student body.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree and 3 years of advising, student counseling or teaching experience.
• Applicants who do not meet these qualifications WILL NOT be forwarded to the Hiring Manager.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task in heavy workloads.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse groups of students and demonstrate strong communication.

Responsibilities

• Academic Advising: counsel and assist students, develop individualized academic plans and monitor progress.
• Graduate Professional Placement: advise on career exploration, resumé construction and job readiness.
• Program Support: lead orientation, plan multi-year program activities, manage records and communications.
• Recruitment: design outreach, advise applicants, participate in admissions decisions and follow up.
