Job summary

Gadsden Independent School District (NM) is seeking instructional assistants to support teachers and students. Under teacher supervision, you will tutor students, prepare activities, and perform clerical tasks while helping maintain classroom routines and displays.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, 48 college hours with 15 in core subjects, and a ParaPro/educator exam or equivalent credential. NM Level III Educational Assistant license is required.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; or 1–3 months related experience and/or training.
Completion of 48 college hours including 15 in language arts, reading, writing, math or professional education.
Passing ParaPro, ParaEducator, or Basic Skills exam.
New Mexico Public Education Educational Assistant Level III License required.
Ability to add, subtract, and work with money, measurement, volume, etc.
Ability to read, write, and communicate clearly.

Responsibilities

Assist Teacher and administration in school by performing duties; include other duties as assigned.
Maintain a professional working relationship with employees and students.
Assist with classroom management routines.
Tutoring individual students or groups under the supervision of the teacher.
Prepare classroom activities under the teacher's supervision.
Perform clerical work.
Prepare class displays and bulletin boards.
Care for equipment and assist in classroom activities.
Supervise playground, cafeteria, bus loading and other school activities.
Participate in inservice training programs.
Perform other duties as assigned.
