Job summary

Gadsden Independent School District (NM) is seeking instructional assistant applicants to support teachers and students in Special Education settings. Responsibilities include assisting with IEP activities, classroom management, and student supervision in multiple environments.

The position requires either a passing ParaPro exam or 48 semester hours with specified education credits, and a high school diploma or GED. Training and home-visit duties may be included where needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• At least 48 semester hours of college credit with 15 in language arts, reading, writing, mathematics or professional education.
• Passing ParaPro or an Educational Assistant Assessment is acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher with all classroom activities and routines.
• Participate in in-service activities and school trainings.
• Assist in classroom management and supervise students on playground, cafeteria, and on bus duty as assigned.
• Accompanies the teacher on home visits when necessary.
• Prepare classrooms for activities and help with displays and bulletin boards.
• Support students with IEP related activities under supervision.
• Monitor and document behavior and assist with behavioral interventions as directed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
