Job summary

Phipps Houses and Affiliates is seeking a Student Advocate to work with elementary, middle, or high school students. You will help students achieve academic and non-academic goals, develop individualized strategies, and provide structures to improve graduation rates and attendance.

The role involves facilitating small group interventions, planning lessons, and supporting classroom initiatives while maintaining a positive, age-appropriate environment and professional collaboration with families

Qualifications

  • Must have at least a High School Diploma or HSE; 12 college credits preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; strong classroom management.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and computer literacy.
  • Bilingual (Spanish speaking) preferred.
  • Enthusiasm, creativity and initiative; sense of urgency.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate success mentoring and enrichment activities to improve attendance and academic performance.
  • Provide supervision and ensure safety of students at all times.
  • Engage students in project-based learning activities.
  • Monitor student attendance during day and after-school activities.
  • Develop lesson plans and curricula aligned with program themes and outcomes.
  • Conduct attendance interventions with students and/or parents.
  • Document student progress related to achievement and attendance.
  • Plan and lead group workshops for student success and address concerns.
  • Support school initiatives, such as lunch groups and advisory services.
  • Maintain professional relationships with students, parents, and school staff.
  • Communicate with staff, parents, students, and community members respectfully.
