Job summary

Community College of Allegheny County is seeking an Academic Advisor to provide student-centered advising, helping students shape their academic plans, majors, and courses. The role collaborates with Registrar, Financial Aid, Admissions and Counseling to support retention and success.

Qualifications

• Masters degree required for this academic advising role.
• Three or more years of experience in higher education advising or related student services.
• Ability to interact with students with diverse needs and manage evening/weekend workloads.

Responsibilities

• Provide student-centered advising to new, prospective and current students to support their academic plans and goals.
• Assist with major changes, degree audits, and course planning in coordination with college departments.
• Refer students to campus and community resources and monitor progress using the college early alert system.
• Conduct interviews to assess readiness, assist in degree selection, and guide on developmental coursework.
• Travel to other campuses as needed and participate in training and development activities.
• Support Registration and advising staff and help maintain accurate academic schedules and policy information.
