Job summary

The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point is seeking an Academic Advisor for the Sentry School of Business and Economics. You will work with the Advising Director and staff to deliver a high-quality advising program for students, including transfer, drop-in, and low-GPA populations.

You may travel to Wausau and Marshfield campuses to provide advising services and will support program resources, data reporting, and recruitment/retention initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Professional work experience in advising, career services, admissions, recruiting, student services, or related duties.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, plan and organize complex tasks, problem solve, and manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Serve as main contact for students, explaining educational options and requirements; help match interests and fields of study.
• Coordinate and implement advising events (workshops, panels, guest speakers).
• Maintain confidentiality and accurate records; respond to inquiries per FERPA and institutional policies.
• Maintain expertise with advised curriculum and assist in developing policy and curriculum exceptions as needed.
• Support and develop Sentry School and University recruitment efforts.
• Participate in campus advising community; provide input on program development.
• Support retention efforts and initiatives for current students.
