Job summary

Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy seeks a Student Success and Accommodation Associate to support students with accommodations, focusing on self-advocacy and independence. This 0.50 FTE, 10-month role collaborates with the Accommodations Specialist across academic, residential, and health needs.

The Associate serves as a consistent contact, providing ongoing coaching, monitoring, and intervention to promote equitable access and student success within IMSA's Equity and Excellence framework.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in education or related field required.
• Experience with adolescents/young adults preferred.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to support students from diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary support contact for students with approved accommodations.
• Conduct regular check-ins on academic, residential, and social progress.
• Monitor utilization of accommodations and identify barriers.
• Assist students in understanding accommodation plans and responsibilities.
• Collaborate with faculty, residential staff, counselors, and families to support accommodation implementation.
• Develop individualized support strategies for organization, time management, and executive functioning.
• Provide remote learning support for students on Leaves of Absence (LOAs).
• Ensure accommodations are implemented consistently across settings.
• Coach students in self-advocacy and problem-solving.
• Coordinate referrals to counseling and health services.
• Participate in student support meetings and multidisciplinary teams.
