TITLE: Student Store Assistant II

LOCATION: Legacy High School

REPORTS TO: Instructor/Principal

DEPARTMENT: Career & Technical Education/Secondary

Hours / Work Times

4 Hours Per Day (8:45 a.m. - 12:45 p.m.)

190 Days Per Year (180 Student days/10 Holidays)

This position will remain open until a qualified applicant is selected. The earliest date a recommendation for hire may be submitted is after 08/18/26.

  • Be at least eighteen (18) years of age and hold a high school diploma or its equivalent;
  • Must meet one or more of the following:
    • Have received a passing score of 455 or higher on the Education Testing Service ParaPro Assessment (ETS test/PRAXIS);
    • Hold an Associate Degree or higher from an accredited college or university;
    • Have earned 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at 100 level or higher at an accredited college or university;
    • Have completed a Paraeducator Apprenticeship Program (program must be registered with the Washington State Apprenticeship and Training Council).

Upon hire, new paraeducators will be required to complete state required training offered through Evergreen School District.

Salary Placement: New employees will start at the minimum hourly rate in the classification salary range. However, employees who have verified prior years of service of similar occupational experience may receive experience credit towards salary step placement.

SUMMARY STATEMENT:

Under the supervision of the marketing education instructor and building Principal, the Student Store Assistant II will assist in supervision of the student store to include: morning prep work, lunch sales, afternoon clean up, deposit activities, merchandising/display, inventory, student training, and tracking of student progress.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Communicate effectively with students, staff, and the general public.
  • Work with and supervise students in the student store during lunches and breaks.
  • Operate the computer.
  • Oversee the student store bookkeeping systems and train students in the system.
  • Generate financial statements and train students to generate financial statements.
  • Supervise training of students to demonstrate essential skills in customer service, conflict management, problem solving, and critical thinking.
  • Work with vendors in ordering and receiving merchandise sold in the student store and train students how to do ordering and receive merchandise.
  • Supervise the inventory of the student store as required by the District.
  • See that money is accounted for and daily deposits are made to ASB according to District policy.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT NECESSARY:

Computer/laptop, typewriter, telephone, copy machines, FAX machine, Point of Sale System, digital camera, scanner, laminator, and all other tools and equipment necessary to perform the essential functions as listed above.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

(Testing may be required)

  • Light typing/keyboarding (30-50 wpm)
  • A minimum of two years of experience in retail sales, grocery sales, or a related field to include experience in Point of Sale systems, and inventory.
  • Background in bookkeeping preferred but not required.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and the general public.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with, train, and supervise high school students.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate a computer, using a Windows environment, Microsoft Office applications, and QuickBooks for bookkeeping.
  • Willingness to learn new computer software.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform under constant interruptions.
  • Must possess organizational skills and the ability to follow through.
  • Must possess good math skills and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities at one time.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate the tools and equipment as listed in the tools and equipment area above.
