Essential Functions:

  • Provide reading and/or math intervention to flexible groupings of students in grades K-5.
  • Provide intervention services in an inclusionary manner within the classroom.
  • Attend required intervention professional development sessions and meetings.
  • Work collaboratively and effectively with all school teams, community stakeholders and administrators.
  • Maintain a positive relationship with students, staff, parents, and community by modeling respect, cooperation, and professionalism with others, recognizing the personal achievements and professional contributions of others and demonstrating knowledge of a sensitivity toward individuals and groups from all racial, ethnic/cultural, national socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Assist in the screening process and placement of students in the Title I and/or LAP program.
  • Assist with the instructional direction of Paraeducators, if applicalbe.
  • Complete all program records on behalf of the school in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Initiate and support activities for parents and teachers of participating students.
  • Implement and support the Title I and/or LAP programs within grant guidelines and under the direction of building administrators and the Federal Programs Department
  • Leads for inclusive programming for students qualified for special education services and those learning English as a second language.
  • Develops cultural competence and a commitment to equity in outcomes and opportunities for adults and students.
  • Leads for equity towards college and career readiness.
  • Nurtures a school environment that celebrates, respects, and values diversity where teaching and learning are made relevant and meaningful to students of various cultures.
  • Publically draws attention to all equity gaps that exist for various groups of students with plans to address their elimination.
  • Initiates activities and discussions that lead to increased cultural competence of staff, informing and expanding teaching practices within classrooms.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Washington Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsements; Reading and/or Math endorsement preferred.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in providing instruction in reading and math, using a variety of structures.
  • Ability to demonstrate effective written and oral communications with diverse community members to include students, staff, parents and community stakeholders.
  • Ability to respond to and engage with a diverse multi-cultural and multi-racial community, and to work side by side and foster strong, positive relationships with parents, staff, students and the public.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess students using a variety of methods and analyze results for intervention design.
  • Minimum three years recent and successful classroom teaching experience at K-3 OR Three years recent and successful experience in providing K-5 intervention.
