Job summary

Evergreen Public Schools in Vancouver, WA is seeking a Delivery person for Central Receiving and Distribution. You will perform pick-up and delivery duties, ensure safe vehicle operation, and maintain accurate records.

The role reports to the Manager and supports a district with 260 working days per year. The position requires at least one year of delivery experience, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to follow written and oral instructions.

Qualifications

  • One year of experience and/or training in pick-up and delivery.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and provide a current driving abstract.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff and the public.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize work.
  • Must be able to read and interpret road maps and documents.
  • Ability to delegate tasks when required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform pick-up and delivery services for Evergreen Public Schools.
  • Inspect vehicles to ensure safe operation.
  • Check fluid levels and tire pressures and maintain vehicle cleanliness.
  • Load, deliver, and unload materials safely and timely.
  • Record discrepancies and report to Manager as needed.
  • Maintain inventory of loaned goods and report needs.

SUMMARY STATEMENT:

Under the general supervision of the Manager, the Delivery person is responsible for performing pick-up and delivery services for the Evergreen School District in a timely and courteous manner, consistent with safe driving practices. The District encompasses approximately 54 square miles.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform pick-up and delivery services for the Evergreen School District.
  • Perform inspections of vehicles to ensure safe operation.
  • Check vehicle for proper levels of oil and water, and tires for air pressure.
  • Keep vehicle clean, both inside and outside.
  • Load, deliver, and unload materials to, from, and/or between District and supplier locations as required in a safe, timely, and courteous manner.
  • Pick up and deliver in accordance with established procedures, i.e. delivery orders must be signed by proper authority, record all discrepancies and/or damage, utilize safe driving practices.
  • Produce reports to the Manager as requested.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of loaned out goods from Central Receiving and Distribution, as well as other departments' stored goods.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with inventory, supply requests, and surplus sale as requested.
  • Direct the work of helpers when assigned.
  • Assist in Central Receiving and Distribution as requested.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT NECESSARY:

Various trucks, forklifts, hand trucks, pallet jacks, equipment for washing and maintaining vehicles, manually operated tools and equipment, communication equipment (radios and telephones), and all other tools and equipment necessary to perform the essential functions as listed above.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff and the general public.
  • One year of experience and/or training in pick-up and delivery.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate the tools and equipment as outlined in the tools and equipment area above.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize work.
  • Demonstrated ability to count, add, and subtract accurately.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform safety inspection and maintain equipment.
  • Must possess sufficient strength to load, move and unload merchandise and/or equipment weighing up to 300 lbs. utilizing manual and/or mechanized equipment as necessary.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain records.
  • Must be able to read and interpret road and school site maps.
  • Demonstrated ability to delegate tasks when required.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and must be able to provide current driving abstract.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with others as part of a team.
