Job summary

Metropolitan Community College seeks a part-time Student Services Concierge to warmly welcome students and visitors at the South Omaha Campus. You will greet guests, assess needs, direct to services, answer phones, and support registration and student planning.

Responsibilities include managing schedules, assisting with MyWay Portal, handling forms and mail, and performing cashier duties. An Associate degree and two years of customer service are required; bilingual ability is preferred.

  • Two years of direct customer service experience in a fast-paced, public service environment.
  • Experience in an educational setting preferred.
  • Proficiency in English; bilingual/multilingual preferred.

  • Performs cashier functions and duties, including receiving and posting payments and deposits.
  • Ensures proper security when opening and closing Center and/or Student Welcome Center office.
  • Attends work and related activities as scheduled.

Classification Regular Minimum Pay $19.81 Compensation will be commensurate with the level of the position, education, and experience.

JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

The Student Services Concierge will greet and assist students and visitors along with performing a variety of functions in the Student Welcome Center. This is a part-time regular position eligible for tuition assistance and pro-rated leave/holiday benefits, scheduled 28-hours per week. This announcement is live through September 8, 2026 at 11:59pm, and will no longer be posted September 9, 2026.

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS
  • Greets and assists students and visitors in the Student Welcome Center.
  • Actively assess students' needs navigating them to personalized direct points of service.
  • Answers telephones, transfer calls appropriately, and sets appointments.
  • Listen and respond to student issues to find solutions by problem-solving and/or referring to other college departments as needed.
  • Stays abreast of multiple sources of detailed information and schedules of activities in the building including tours, workshops, classes and orientation sessions and assist with organization of on-site activities.
  • Assists students with orienting to college resources and tools, such as MyWay Portal.
  • Assists students with registration and/or student planning.
  • Maintains forms and daily mail service for all departments on campus/center.
  • Performs cashier functions and duties, including receiving and posting payments and deposits.
  • Ensures proper security when opening and closing Center and/or Student Welcome Center office.
  • Consistently and dependably attends work, activities, and functions as scheduled or assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT

Schedule: 28-hours per week, Mon. - Thurs. 1pm - 7pm, Sat. 8am - 12pm This is an on-premise position located at the South Omaha Campus.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of college-wide functions, particularly student affairs, financial aid, academic affairs, Knowledge academic records, enrollment services, etc.
  • Knowledge of CRM systems.
  • Skill in operating computer software.
  • Knowledge and compliance with FERPA laws.
  • Possess high level of customer service skills, while maintaining a positive and professional attitude.
  • Effectively communicate with various internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and pay close attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and/or as part of a team.
  • Ability to professionally manage and maintain confidential information.
  • Ability to effectively work and interact with various cultures and ethnicities.
  • Ability to utilize mathematical and money-handling skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and/or writing.
  • Ability to occasionally extent exert up to 20 pounds of force to lift, push, carry, pull or otherwise move objects.
  • Ability to perform sedentary work, sitting and standing for extended periods of time.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Associate degree
  • Two (2) years of direct customer service experience working in a fast-paced, public service environment.
  • An equivalent combination of education and/or work experience considered.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
  • Experience in an Educational setting preferred.
  • Proficiency in English; bilingual/multilingual preferred.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to travel between campuses for meetings or position responsibilities.
  • Must pass background check.
