Job summary

Akron Public Schools is seeking Safety Team Members to transport students and assist with safety and security across district sites. The position is non-exempt and hourly, with a range of duties to maintain a safe school environment.

Requires a high school diploma or GED, Ohio background check, valid driver’s license with under six points, and ability to drive extended shifts. Civil responsibilities include monitoring, collaboration with APS staff, and adherence to district safety policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must pass Bureau of Criminal Investigation background check.
• Valid Ohio driver’s license with fewer than 6 points.

Responsibilities

• Exercise judgment and tact when interacting with staff, students and visitors.
• May ride school buses to support safety and student safety.
• Safely transport families, students or staff to designated locations.
• Monitor student behavior to support a positive educational environment.
• Interact with students during class changes, lunch and dismissal.
• Provide mobile safety support at off-site events and locations.
