  • Maintain confidentiality of student and office information.
  • Assist with preparing, assembling packets, promotional materials, and publicizing.
  • Keep and organize records of daily data of mentoring activities and provide monthly data outcomes to the Director/Assistant Director/CTSE Staff as needed.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

The Center for Transformational Student Experiences (CTSE) is seeking reliable, disciplined, and customer-service-oriented student research mentors to support and mentor undergraduate students from all colleges who wish to enhance their academic performance and research activities at Albany State University. Student research mentors will work with assigned students in developing strong research skills, accomplishing identified academic and research tasks with the supervision of CTSE staff. The student research mentors will also provide other related activities to support undergraduate research student engagement and success at ASU. The research mentors will join hands to ensure excellent customer service to students and visitors, maintain organized workspaces, and contribute to a welcoming and professional environment in CTSE office.

Responsibilities
  • Provide one-to-one academic mentoring to undergraduate research students.
  • Provide advice and guidance to students new to academic research program.

  • Support faculty research mentors as they work with their mentees in research activities.
  • Publicize and present undergraduate research activities in classes (in-person and online).
  • Support CTSE staff as they organize undergraduate research and symposia activities.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student and office information.
  • Assist to deliver awareness raising about research participation and undergraduate research workshops.
  • Provide motivation to research mentees and encourage them to complete their research projects.
  • Perform other necessary office data organization, research compiling, and routine office works.
  • Assist with preparing, assembling packets, promotional materials, and publicizing.
  • Keep and organize records of daily data of mentoring activities and provide monthly data outcomes to the Director/Assistant Director/CTSE Staff as needed.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Must be currently enrolled at Albany State University.
  • Must maintain satisfactory academic progress.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service, and interpersonal skills.

  • Reliable, punctual, and dependable.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous office or leadership, mentoring experience.
  • Present GPA- 3:0 and above.
  • Experience preparing PowerPoint and conducting in-class/online presentations.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Experience working with students in a higher education environment.
  • Familiarity with office equipment, including printers, scanners, and copiers.
