STUDENT RESEARCH ASSISTANT - Part-Time

HAROLD WASHINGTON COLLEGE

City Colleges of Chicago is seeking a Temporary Part-Time Student Research Assistant. Serving over 60,000 students annually across seven colleges and five satellite sites, our community college system employs more than 3,500 faculty and staff.

Eligibility Requirements:

• Applicants must be 16 years or older, have work permit consent, and be eligible to work in the United States.
• Applicants must be actively attending one of the City Colleges of Chicago.
• Applicants must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 semester hours of pre-credit or credit classes.
• Applicants must be pursuing an approved educational credential, degree, or certificate.
• Applicants must have and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 (waived for first-semester new students).
• Applicants must be in good standing with no academic restrictions.
• Applicants must not be current employees of the City Colleges of Chicago.
• All positions are at-will employment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Support a defined research project under the supervision of a faculty mentor, including tasks such as literature review, fieldwork, and laboratory experiments.
• Prepare scientific reports and presentations.
• Attend mandatory meetings and workshops.
• Adhere to the City Colleges of Chicago Customer Service Excellence Standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma required.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
