Description

The Recovery Support Intern will play a crucial role in supporting student wellness by promoting recovery resources and facilitating all-recovery meetings on campus. This internship provides students with an opportunity to gain valuable experience in peer support, event coordination, and health promotion. The intern will be responsible for organizing and hosting a weekly all-recovery meeting, as well as promoting recovery resources and providing peer support to students engaged in recovery.

Responsibilities
  • All-Recovery Meeting Coordination:
  • Prepare for and host a weekly all-recovery meeting that is inclusive of all forms of recovery.
  • Ensure that the meeting space is welcoming and supportive of all attendees; clean up the space after each use.
  • Marketing and Outreach:
  • Create and distribute marketing materials (flyers, social media posts, etc.) to promote the all-recovery meeting and other recovery-related resources available on campus.
  • Collaborate with the Office of Health Promotion to raise awareness of recovery resources among the broader student body.
  • Peer Support:
  • Offer individualized peer support to students attending the recovery meetings.
  • Provide information and guidance on available campus resources and external support options.
  • Administrative Support:
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance and materials used during the meetings to assist with the semester-to-semester transition.
  • Communicate with the Office of Health Promotion regarding the needs of the group and the effectiveness of the meetings.
  • Training
    • Complete theCertified Peer Educators (CPE) Training, a 10-hour online certification program offered by NASPA (National Association of Student Personnel Administrators), beforeor during the first semester of employment. This certification will equip the intern with the skills necessary to effectively lead and support their peers in a recovery context.
Requirements
  • Current full-time upper-class student at Ursinus College
  • Interest in health promotion, peer support, or recovery services and a lived experience in recovery
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to relate to and support peers
  • Self-motivated, organized, and able to work independently while also collaborating with the Office of Health Promotion.
  • Commitment to maintaining privacy and creating a safe, welcoming environment for all students.
