Responsibilities
PATIENT POPULATION - (CLINICAL ONLY):
  • Engages in population appropriate communication.
  • Has knowledge of growth and development milestones and tasks.
  • Gives clear instructions to patients/family regarding treatment.
  • Involves family/guardian in the assessment, initial treatment, and continuing care of the patient.
  • Identifies any physical limitations of the patient and deploys intervention when necessary.
  • Recognizes and responds appropriately to patients/families with behavioral health problems.
  • Interprets population related data and plans care appropriately.
  • Identifies and responds appropriately to different needs resulting from, unique psychological needs or those associated with religious / cultural norms. Performs treatments, administers medication, or operates equipment safely.
  • Recognizes and responds to signs/symptoms of abuse or neglect.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients for imaging procedures by verifying identity, explaining procedures, and ensuring comfort and safety.
  • May perform venipuncture for procedures based upon exam criteria.
  • Work with the nursing units to coordinate and transport patients as necessary.
  • Prepare labels and containers for contrast administration.
  • Practice radiation safety principles, including ALARA, proper shielding, and adherence to dose reduction protocols.
  • Observes and enforces Magnetic Resonance safety policies.
  • Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and organizational policies.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe imaging environment, including room preparation and equipment cleaning.
  • Respond appropriately to patient needs, emergencies, and changes in patient condition by notifying supervising staff.
  • Comply with all hospital policies, infection prevention standards, and regulatory requirements.
Additional Duties
  • Assist with clerical or operational tasks within the imaging department, such as answering calls, as assigned.
  • Research patient’s previous exams and reports in EPIC.
  • Complete functions in both the EPIC and PACS systems related to the study
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and safety huddles as appropriate.
  • Support departmental workflow during peak times under supervision.
Professional Development
  • Participate in clinical education activities, competency assessments, and evaluations required by the academic program.
  • Demonstrate professional conduct, teamwork, and effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
