Job summary

City of Auburn (AL) is seeking a Student Public Safety Telecommunicator in the Public Safety – Communications Department. The role supports emergency and non-emergency operations while you are enrolled as a student.

You will answer calls, dispatch responders, query and update CJIC/NCIC databases, and maintain CAD/RMS records. The position offers a part-time schedule and opportunities to develop skills in a public service environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Special qualifications: CJIC/NCIC certification within six months.
• Must be enrolled as a full-time student with 2 of 3 semesters per year and a 2.0 GPA.

Responsibilities

• Answers emergency and administrative telephone lines.
• Dispatches Police and Fire units as appropriate.
• Conducts queries and enters/maintains records in CJIC/NCIC databases.
• Maintains CAD and RMS records and paperwork.
• Provides administrative support for communications operations.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
