Job summary

The UAB Police Department is seeking a dedicated communications dispatcher to handle call intake, determine the type of assistance needed, and coordinate with sworn and non-sworn units. This role requires operating the NCIC/ACJIC system and maintaining familiarity with department policies across all shifts to support campus safety.

Ideal candidates will possess a High School diploma or GED, excellent typing speed, and strong multitasking/communication abilities.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Ability to type at least 25 words per minute.
• Strong multitasking and communications skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Answer telephone and assess the form of assistance required.
• Direct calls to the appropriate units or sources for resolution.
• Maintain knowledge of department policies and procedures.
• Operate the ACJIC/NCIC terminal and obtain certification.
• Rotates on all shifts and all days of the week under supervision.
