Chicago Public Schools (CPS) is a district on the rise, serving over 325,000 students in 500+ schools and employing over 45,000 people, most of them teachers. CPS has set ambitious goals to ensure that every student, in every school and every neighborhood, has access to a world‑class learning experience that prepares each for success in college, career, and civic life. Aligned with our transformed philosophy, we are steadfastly focused on ensuring that the District provides resources equitably to support every student, every school, and every community. Six core values guide the work we do every day for our students – student‑centered, whole child, equity, academic excellence, community partnership, and continuous learning. Each role in the district supports our vision that every student deserves a rigorous, joyful, and equitable learning experience.
The Office of Student Protections (OSP) and Title IX’s mission is to provide an equitable, inclusive, safe, supportive and secure learning and working environment, in every school and neighborhood, in the District that is free from discrimination, harassment, sexual harassment, sexual misconduct, and retaliation, ensuring that all students, faculty, staff, vendors and visitors can thrive.
Reporting to the Case Coordination Team Lead, Student Protections Coordinators within the Office of Student Protections and Title IX (OSP) will serve a central role advancing the Office’s core function: to ensure that every reported incident of sexual misconduct, bias‑based harm, and abuse impacting CPS students is thoroughly and properly handled in the best interests of the involved students. The Student Protections Coordinators are responsible for responding to all incidents and consulting with schools on next steps, and best practices. They advise school administrators on reporting protocols (e.g. Department of Children & Family Services, law enforcement, CPS’ incident reporting software, etc.), initiate investigations, share resources, and ensure that all incidents are properly resolved and documented.
