Job summary

BJC HealthCare seeks a PRN Float Student Nurse Tech (SNT) to support Progress West Hospital and Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital across ED, Med-Surg, and Telemetry.

You will work a night-shift pattern with self-scheduling, gaining experience in diverse units while delivering compassionate, patient-centered care under supervision.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an accredited RN program with clinical component.
• Completion of nursing fundamentals with clinical component required.
• Willingness to travel between Progress West Hospital and Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital.
• Ability to adapt quickly to various unit settings and provide patient-centered care.
• Initial 3-week full-time training commitment prior to regular schedule.

Responsibilities

• Provide multi-skilled direct patient care under RN supervision.
• Assist with patient and family education and document care activities.
• Act as 1:1 safety sitter as needed and ensure supplies are ready.
• Collect clinical data and report abnormalities to the nurse.

Role Highlights

• PRN, self-scheduled night shift role(minimum24 hours every 6 weeks)
• Includes12 weekend hoursandholiday rotation
• Night shift schedule:6:30 PM to 6:30 AM

Overview

Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital proudly serves the health care needs of families in St. Charles, Lincoln and Warren counties. The 102-bed community hospital provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services including the Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital, the Breast Health and Women’s Center, the Cardiology Center, the Neurosurgery Center and the Outpatient Surgery and Endoscopy Center.

Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital is an Accredited Chest Pain Center and carries a Level II stroke certification. Additionally, the hospital’s medical office building houses offices for specialists in primary care, cardiology, obstetrics, dermatology, surgery and pulmonology. Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital also offers outpatient services including physical therapy, a sleep lab, and cardio-pulmonary rehabilitation.

At Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital, every decision is made in the best interest of patients and families. The Nursing Resource team takes exceptional care of people by coordinating patient placement and bed management in collaboration with departments, admitting, and physicians.

Preferred Qualifications

Role Purpose

Provides multi-skilled, direct patient care, under the direction and supervision of a registered professional nurse. This job requires completion of a foundational nursing skills course or equivalent (fundamentals, foundations, or adult/peds health.

Responsibilities

Assists nurse with patient and family education. Documents all patient care activities provided with correct medical terminology. Acts as 1:1 patient safety sitter as necessary.Ensures availability of supplies and equipment to meet each patient's needs.Implements direct patient care under the supervision of the nursing team.Collects clinical data and information on patients and reports abnormal findings to the nurse.Instructs patients in preparations for tests and procedures.
