Job summary

Select Specialty Hospital in Cincinnati Downtown is seeking a Student Nurse Technician who is actively enrolled in an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN). You will support nursing staff, assist with basic patient care, and help collect patient data under supervision.

The position offers PRN/per diem status with 12-hour day and night shifts and a pay of $22.44 per hour. Eligibility requires first-year nursing coursework and BLS certification on hire.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN).
• Proof of completion of the first year/fundamentals of nursing (or equivalent).
• Knowledge of basic nursing techniques and aseptic practices.
• BLS certification required upon hire.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families and staff.

Responsibilities

• Obtain vital signs, height, weight and demographic data.
• Assist patients with personal care such as bathing, oral hygiene, shaving and hair care.
• Assist with urinary catheter removal, finger stick blood sugars, bladder scans and specimen collection.
• Remove peripheral IVs as directed by RN.
• Deliver meals and assist patients who cannot feed themselves; document intake.
• Turn and position immobile patients; assist with mobility.
• Transport patients to designated areas as needed.

Schedule: PRN/Per Diem/As Needed - 12 Hour Shifts - Day Shift 7:00a-7:00p & Night Shift 7:00p-7:00a

Compensation: $22.44 per hour

• Remove peripheral IV's as directed by RN (may not remove any IV's located in antecubital fossa or higher)


• Deliver meals and snacks, feed patients who are unable to feed themselves and document oral intake


• Turn and position immobile patients safely while maintaining proper body alignment; participate in mobility program


• Transport patients to designated areas, such as to and from various treatment centers


• Current enrollment in an accredited nursing school (ADN or BSN program) - must provide proof of completion of the first year/fundamentals of nursing (or equivalent)


• Knowledge of basic nursing techniques and procedures and aseptic practices


• Requires the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to follow written and verbal instructions, and to maintain effective working relations with others including patients, families, physicians and other hospital associates.


• BLS certification required upon hire
