Select Specialty Hospital York is seeking a Student Nurse Tech (Future Registered Nurse) for a per diem role in York. You must be enrolled in an accredited nursing program (ADN/BSN) and provide proof of the first year of fundamentals.

The role supports patient care, vital signs, and basic nursing tasks under RN supervision. The position offers exposure to diverse clinical experiences, with a strong orientation and opportunities to advance to full-time roles based on performance and staffing

Qualifications

• Must provide proof of completion of the first year/fundamentals of nursing (or equivalent).
• Current enrollment in ADN or BSN program.
• Knowledge of basic nursing techniques and aseptic practices.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and hospital staff.
• BLS certification required upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Obtain vital signs, height, weight and demographic data.
• Assist patients with personal and daily care (bathing, oral hygiene, shaving, hair care).
• Assist with urinary catheter removal, finger-stick blood sugars, bladder scans, and specimen collection.
• Deliver meals and snacks, and document oral intake.
• Turn and position immobile patients safely and assist with mobility and transfers.

• Assist with urinary catheter removal, finger stick blood sugars, bladder scans, routine urine and stool specimen collection, ostomy care and emptying drainage receptacles/tubes
• Remove peripheral IV’s as directed by RN (may not remove any IV’s located in antecubital fossa or higher)
• Deliver meals and snacks, feed patients who are unable to feed themselves and document oral intake
• Turn and position immobile patients safely while maintaining proper body alignment; participate in mobility program
• Transport patients to designated areas, such as to and from various treatment centers
• Current enrollment in an accredited nursing school (ADN or BSN program) - must provide proof of completion of the first year/fundamentals of nursing (or equivalent)
• Knowledge of basic nursing techniques and procedures and aseptic practices
• Requires the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to follow written and verbal instructions, and to maintain effective working relations with others including patients, families, physicians and other hospital associates.
