Job summary

Select Specialty Hospital in Morgantown seeks a Student Nurse Technician currently enrolled in an ADN or BSN program. Per diem shifts include 6:30a-7p or 6:30p-7a, with opportunities to gain hands-on experience in post-ICU care while preparing for NCLEX requirements.

Responsibilities include vital signs, assisting with daily care, catheter and blood glucose procedures, meals, and mobility support, with orientation and potential future advancement. BLS certification is required upon hire.

Qualifications

• Current enrollment in accredited nursing school (ADN or BSN) and must provide proof of completion of the first year/fundamentals of nursing (or equivalent).
• BLS certification required upon hire.
• Knowledge of basic nursing techniques and aseptic practices.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and to follow written and verbal instructions.

Responsibilities

• Obtain vital signs, height, weight and demographic data.
• Assist patients with personal and daily care (bathing, oral hygiene, shaving, hair care).
• Assist with urinary catheter removal and finger-stick blood sugars.
• Deliver meals and snacks and document oral intake.
• Turn and position immobile patients and participate in mobility programs.
• Transport patients to designated areas as needed.

Position: Student Nurse Tech (Future Registered Nurse)

Location: Select Specialty Hospital - Morgantown

Schedule: Per Diem, 6:30a-7p or 6:30p-7a

Compensation: $20.00 per hours, plus shift differentials for nights and weekends

• Assist with urinary catheter removal, finger stick blood sugars, bladder scans, routine urine and stool specimen collection, ostomy care and emptying drainage receptacles/tubes
• Remove peripheral IV’s as directed by RN (may not remove any IV’s located in antecubital fossa or higher)
• Deliver meals and snacks, feed patients who are unable to feed themselves and document oral intake
• Turn and position immobile patients safely while maintaining proper body alignment; participate in mobility program
• Transport patients to designated areas, such as to and from various treatment centers
• Current enrollment in an accredited nursing school (ADN or BSN program) - must provide proof of completion of the first year/fundamentals of nursing (or equivalent)
• Knowledge of basic nursing techniques and procedures and aseptic practices
• Requires the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to follow written and verbal instructions, and to maintain effective working relations with others including patients, families, physicians and other hospital associates.
