Select Specialty Hospital - Hampton Roads in Newport News, VA is hiring a Student Nurse Tech (Future Registered Nurse) for full‑time night shifts at $22/hour. You must be enrolled in an ADN/BSN program and show first-year nursing fundamentals completion.

Qualifications

• Current enrollment in an accredited nursing school (ADN or BSN) and proof of completion of first year/fundamentals of nursing (or equivalent).
• Knowledge of basic nursing techniques and aseptic practices.
• Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, and to follow instructions with others including patients, families, physicians and hospital staff.
• BLS certification required upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Obtain vital signs, height, weight and demographic data.
• Assist patients with personal and daily care (bathing, oral hygiene, shaving, hair care).
• Assist with urinary catheter removal, finger-stick blood sugars, bladder scans, routine urine and stool specimen collection, ostomy care and emptying drainage receptacles/tubes.
• Remove peripheral IVs as directed by RN.
• Deliver meals, assist feeding and document oral intake.
• Turn and position immobile patients safely and assist with mobility.
• Transport patients to designated areas and treatment centers.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• Current enrollment in an accredited nursing school (ADN or BSN program) - must provide proof of completion of the first year/fundamentals of nursing (or equivalent)

• Knowledge of basic nursing techniques and procedures and aseptic practices

• Requires the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to follow written and verbal instructions, and to maintain effective working relations with others including patients, families, physicians and other hospital associates.

• BLS certification required upon hire
