Job summary

UnityPoint Health in Fort Dodge, IA invites nursing students to join a 10-week Summer 2027 Student Nurse Internship. The program offers hourly pay, flexible 24–40 hours per week, and tracks across Home Care, Hospice, Pediatrics, Infusion, and Care at Home.

Upon completion, interns may be considered for the Nurse Residency Program, with a plan to work full-time as a Registered Nurse at UnityPoint Health after graduation.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited ADN, BSN or accelerated program.
• Current LPN enrolled in ADN or BSN program.
• Interns must be enrolled in a one-credit nursing course for the duration of the internship to perform RN skills.

Responsibilities

• Build strong professional relationships with clinical team members.
• Gain confidence in performing technical skills.
• Develop clinical judgment skills and priority setting.
• Gain valuable experience to help prepare for a future position with UnityPoint Health after graduation.

Education

Currently enrolled in an accredited ADN/BSN or accelerated program

• Current LPN enrolled in ADN or BSN program.
• Interns must be enrolled in a one-credit nursing course for the duration of the internship to perform RN skills.

Application Materials

• Accepted from November 1st – March 1st, 2027.
• Submit recommendation forms from two nursing facility members.

Write a letter of intent answering: What influenced you pursue a career in nursing? Why are you interested in the nurse internship program? Where do you see yourself in five years?

Include a current AHA or Red Cross Professional Provider card + current mandatory reporter certification.
