Job summary

University Hospitals, in partnership with Lakeland Community College and Kent State University-Ashtabula, offers an RN Apprenticeship program to train candidates as UH Lake West or UH Tripoint Medical Centers nurses.

Selected individuals start as a PCNA with a 24-hour per 6-week commitment, and upon RN licensure, progress to a UH Medical-Surgical RN with a 1-year commitment.

Qualifications

• Must be a student enrolled at Lakeland Community College or Kent State University-Ashtabula.
• Must be in good standing and compliant with UH education requirements.
• Must have admission to RN program and complete foundational clinical rotation before start.
• Must work a minimum of 24 hours per 6-week schedule.
• Prior direct patient care experience preferred but not required.
• Must have High School Diploma or GED.
• BLS certification must be obtained during UH orientation.

Responsibilities

• Hired into a Patient Care Nursing Assistant (PCNA) role with a 24-hour six-week schedule.
• Progress to UH Medical-Surgical RN after RN licensure and one-year commitment.

University Hospitals, in partnership with Lakeland Community College and Kent State University -Ashtabula (KSU-A), is offering a new Registered Nurse (RN) Apprenticeship program to obtain the education and skills needed to become a RN at UH Lake West and UH Tripoint Medical Centers.

This program will follow a milestone model where selected candidates will receive tiered bonuses as certain milestones are achieved, earning up to 12K. The candidate will be hired into a Patient Care Nursing Assistant (PCNA) rolewith a minimum work commitment of 24hrs every 6-week schedule. Upon successful completion of a RN program at Lakeland Community College or Kent State University - Ashtabula and receipt of RN licensure, the employee will be promoted to a UH Medical-Surgical RN with a 1-year work commitment at UH Lake West or UH Tripoint Medical Centers.

• Must obtain admission to and maintain successful enrollment in the Lakeland Community College or Kent State University-Ashtabula Registered Nurse program and completed programs foundation/fundamental clinical rotation prior to start

• Must have High School Diploma or GED
