Job summary

University of Maryland Medical System is seeking a Nursing Assistant to work under the direct supervision of a registered nurse, delivering care to patients and families on the assigned unit.

The role includes direct patient care, monitoring, and assisting with nursing care plans, while upholding infection control guidelines and patient safety. Current BLS and enrollment in a pre-licensure nursing program are required.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent.
• Currently enrolled in an accredited pre-licensure MSN/BSN or ADN program.
• Passing grade in Fundamentals/Foundations of Nursing (transcript required).
• Current BLS card (AHA or American Red Cross) required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under RN supervision on the assigned unit.
• Assist with assessment and planning of nursing care.
• Perform routine nursing tasks and care activities as delegated by the RN.
• Assist with nasogastric feedings and catheter care as directed.
• Document vital signs and intake/output per policy.
• Support patient admission, discharge, and equipment setup.
• Follow infection control guidelines and patient safety procedures.
