Job summary

The University of Kansas Health System is seeking a Student Nurse Apprentice to provide clinical support at Bell Hospital and Olathe Hospital. The role includes direct and indirect patient care under RN supervision during a 200-hour clinical capstone, with progression to Nurse Associate at KC campus and Student Nurse Intern at Olathe campus.

Enrollment in an accredited nursing program and completion of Fundamentals of Nursing or Med/Surg is required, with CPR/BLS certification within 14 days.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and current enrollment in an accredited nursing program.
• Completion of Fundamentals of Nursing or Med/Surg course.
• 200-hour clinical capstone with transition to campus roles upon completion.

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, compassionate care under direct supervision of an RN.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to implement and document care plans.
• Assist with tests and procedures.
• Perform patient rounds and respond to call lights with professional service.
• Report any changes to the RN preceptor promptly.
• Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and families.
• Utilize the EMR to enter and secure data.
• Demonstrate time management and self-motivation in learning environment.
• Engage in ongoing professional growth through educational activities.
• Identify safety concerns or potential errors and report them.
