Job summary

The University of Kansas Health System is seeking a Part-time Student Nurse Apprentice at Bell Hospital to support patient care under RN supervision during a 200-hour clinical capstone. This role leads toward the Nurse Associate at KC campus or Student Nurse Intern at Olathe campus upon completion.

Enrollment in an accredited nursing program is required, along with completion of a Fundamentals of Nursing or Med/Surg course and CPR/BLS certifications.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate
• Enrollment in an accredited nursing program and completion of a Fundamentals of Nursing or Med/Surg course
• Student Nurse Apprentice will work 200 hours for clinical capstone and then transition to Nurse Associate or Student Nurse Intern
• CPR/AED/BLS - Complete within 14 days

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, compassionate patient care under RN supervision
• Collaborate with healthcare team and document plans of care
• Assist with tests and procedures
• Respond to call lights with excellent customer service
• Maintain safe, therapeutic environment for patients and families
• Enter and secure data in the electronic medical record
• Demonstrate time management and learning mindset
• Engage in ongoing education and professional development
• Identify safety concerns and report potential issues
