Role of a NAII

NA IIs work under the supervision of an RN to deliver safe, efficient, and age-specific care to patients and families, helping them attain, maintain, regain, and/or sustain optimal health. Responsibilities include:

• Direct patient care, including ADLs/hygiene, vital signs, I&O, bladder scanning, EKG, glucometer & other point of care testing (where applicable), and restraints.
• Communication and documentation of interventions and observations.
• Participation in quality improvement processes.
• Engagement in learning and self-improvement.
• Establishing and maintaining positive relationships with patients, families, and coworkers.
