Job summary

Highland Presbyterian Church in Fayetteville, NC seeks a full-time Director of Student Ministries for grades 6–12. The role focuses on relational discipleship and building a vibrant youth community.

The director will teach Scripture, mentor students, recruit and develop volunteers, and partner with parents and church staff to plan gatherings, retreats, and service opportunities. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, organized, and capable of balancing tradition with fresh approaches to youth

• A self-motivated builder who identifies needs, establishes priorities, and completes the work without repeated prompting.
• A thoughtful Bible teacher who connects Scripture to everyday life and welcomes students’ honest questions.
• An organized communicator who helps parents stay informed and gives volunteers the preparation and support they need.
• A collaborative teammate who receives feedback, seeks guidance appropriately, and builds trust with staff and church leaders.
• A patient leader who respects established traditions while helping the congregation embrace fresh approaches to student ministry.
• A leader comfortable in Highland’s PCUSA setting who values its Reformed heritage, welcoming spirit, and partnership among women and men in leadership.

Responsibilities

• Teaching Scripture and mentoring middle and high school students.
• Developing and supporting volunteer leaders and mentors.
• Communicating with parents to keep families informed and engaged.
• Planning gatherings, retreats, and service opportunities for students.
• Collaborating with staff and Youth Committee to implement ministry rhythms.
