Job summary

City of Auburn, AL Environmental Services is seeking a Student Mechanic to assist with diagnosing and repairing a variety of vehicles and equipment. Under the supervision of the Fleet Services Coordinator, you will gain hands-on experience in preventive maintenance and basic mechanical repairs while supporting daily shop operations.

This temporary, part-time role requires enrollment in an undergraduate technology program in automotive technology, a high school diploma or equivalent, and a valid

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Enrollment in an undergraduate technology program in automotive tech is required.
• Possession of or ability to obtain a valid driver’s license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists mechanics in the daily work of repairing and maintaining vehicles and equipment.
• Clean vehicles and equipment to prepare them for repair.
• Transport vehicles to various locations, as needed.
• Pick-up parts from various vendors as required.
• Clean and maintain shop area.
• Performs other related job duties as assigned.
