Job summary

University of Wisconsin–Superior is seeking a Lighting and Sound Crew student to support theatre productions. The role involves hanging, wiring, and focusing lighting, setting up sound and visual media, and maintaining the control booth and storage areas.

Training is provided; hours average about 10 per week with some weekend shows. Applicants must be current or incoming UW–Superior students eligible for federal work-study, able to lift 75 pounds, and comfortable working on ladders up to 10 feet.

Qualifications

• Must qualify for federal work study and be a current or incoming UWS student.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
• Must be able to work on ladders and at heights up to 10 feet.
• Must be able to work a minimum of 5 hours per week.
• Training is provided.

Responsibilities

• Assist Lighting and Sound Designer in placement, hang, circuiting, and focusing lighting, sound and visual media equipment for all UWS Theatre productions when needed.
• Maintain the organization and safety of the control booth, lighting, sound and visual media equipment storage as well as the performance spaces.
• Training is provided.
• Assist the scene shop crew in building and painting scenery, furniture, and hang masking curtains for all UWS Theatre productions when needed.
• Maintain the organization and safety of the scene shop and performance stage.
• Training is provided.
• Assist with general organization, maintenance and inventory control of all shops, supplies, and equipment: makeup, sewing notions, electronics, hardware, power tools, paint, etc.
• Assist with requests to borrow or rent equipment, props, costumes, etc.
• Assist with Box Office duties and ushering during performances.
• Attend scheduled UWS Theatre student employee meetings, work Saturdays, and Sundays dismantling the set.
