Job summary

Houston Community College (HCC) is seeking a Coordinator, Student Life for SE College and related Houston campuses. The role focuses on managing program activities that enhance student leadership, participation, citizenship, success and retention, including budget oversight and contract handling.

Responsibilities include planning events, coordinating communications, advising new clubs, and presenting status reports to college administration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in counseling or other student services related area required.
• 3 years combined experience in outreach activities between a college or university and the community, and working with volunteers in an academic/student service related area in a higher education or community college environment required.
• Experience working with volunteers and understanding of service learning preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, coordinate and implement program activities and services that promote student participation and encourage faculty and student interaction.
• Interpret policies, procedures, issues and provide appropriate directions for their implementation.
• Develop, coordinate, implement and evaluate methods for promoting and publicizing student events and activities through various media.
• Advise new student clubs and organizations about the construction of their constitution and by-laws.
• Assess and analyze student needs and plan leadership training opportunities for faculty advisors and student leaders.
