Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a degree program or accredited school.
• Employment certificate for minors under 18 as required by NYS law.
• Ability to sort items in alphanumeric order.
• Strong organizational and follow-through skills in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent customer service and ability to work with a diverse patronage.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Demonstrated reliability and professionalism.
• Basic computer and basic technology skills (MS Office & Google Apps).

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional customer service to the public.
• Shelve and arrange books, CDs, DVDs and other materials alphabetically and numerically.
• Answer in-person inquiries, help patrons locate materials and refer to staff as needed.
• Assist patrons with basic computer, internet and AV equipment usage.
• Locate and prepare library materials requested by patrons.
• Assist staff with checking materials for damage and removing them from shelves.
• Help set up public spaces for events and programs.
• Perform other related tasks as needed.
