Job summary

The New York Public Library is seeking a Library Page in the Stephen A. Schwarzman Building. This student-friendly role offers 19 hours per week and involves shelving, material handling, and light administrative tasks within the Berg Collection of English and American Literature.

You will gain hands-on experience in a major library system, develop customer service and organizational skills, and participate in training related to conservation, digitization, and archives handling.

Qualifications

• Candidates must be currently enrolled in a degree program.
• Minor employment certificate for under 18 as required by NYS law.
• Excellent written and verbal communication required.

Responsibilities

• Move collection material to and from storage areas.
• Shelf read and maintain the organization's general appearance.
• Perform collection-based projects such as rehousing.
• Retrieve and shelve archival material up to 25 pounds per box.
• Prepare the library for opening/closing and restock supplies.
• Photocopying and messenger duties.
• Perform other related duties as required.
