Job summary

Clemons Library at the University of Virginia is seeking student Circulation Assistants for the 2026-27 school year. The Circulation Assistant will provide customer service at the Clemons 4th floor main desk, check out books, videos, and equipment to patrons, and assist with basic IT support for printers and desktop computers.

The desk is staffed by student assistants from 8am to 2am, seven days a week. Work-study is strongly preferred but not required; start/end dates apply for work-study

Qualifications

• Undergraduate or graduate student with work-study preferred.
• No previous experience required.
• Education: Current UVA student.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service at the Clemons 4th floor main desk.
• Check out books, videos, and equipment to patrons.
• Check in returned materials and re-shelve.
• Provide basic IT support for printers and desktop computers.
• Operate basic office machinery; answer calls or emails.
• Assist with filing, photocopying, shelving, and mail distribution.
• Follow oral and written instructions and work with others.
• On-site training and supervision provided.
• Work-study preferred and scheduling aligns with class availability; early morning, late night, and weekend shifts possible.
