Job summary

Oregon Health & Science University is seeking an undergraduate student to support basic lab maintenance and animal husbandry on the Marquam Hill campus in Portland. You will work with a team including a Research Assistant, graduate student, and postdoc after completing training requirements.

The role includes molecular biology tasks, tissue dissection, histology, and data analysis of microscopy images, with hours to be determined between employee and supervisor. All are welcome at OHSU.

Qualifications

• This position requires enrollment in or break from an undergraduate program with a minimum of 6 credit hours.
• Applicant must have completed high school chemistry practical class at AP level.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic lab maintenance tasks (dishwashing, autoclaving, preparing solutions).
• Conduct animal (mouse) colony husbandry under trained supervision.
• Assist with light administrative lab tasks.
• Carry out molecular biology tasks (PCR/cloning), tissue dissection, and histology.
• Analyze microscopy data and present findings to the supervisor.
• Maintain accurate lab notebooks and archive data properly.
• Other duties as assigned.
