Job description

Overview

The Student Involvement Coordinator plays a key role in enhancing student engagement by providing comprehensive support to Registered Student Organizations (RSOs) and developing co-curricular experiences. This position advises student leaders, oversees RSO training and development opportunities, and ensures RSOs have the tools, guidance, and resources needed to succeed. The coordinator helps with signature campus events and initiatives that foster community, inclusivity, and student success. They will also assist with the supervision of the Student Involvement Resource Center and the student space, the Underground. This role supports the mission, vision, and goals of the Student Affairs Division and the university by promoting student development, belonging, and meaningful involvement outside the classroom.

Responsibilities

Registered Student Organization (RSO) Support

  • Develop, facilitate, and maintain resources, trainings, and tools to support the success and sustainability of RSOs
  • Manage student organization budgets and funding requests
  • Advise and support student leaders and RSO advisors on university policies, event planning, funding processes, and organizational development
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all recognized student organizations, including oversight of registration, compliance, and event support
  • Encourage and facilitate collaboration and shared programming by coordinating communication among organizations with similar mission or goals
  • Assist the Director of OSI, graduate assistants, and student leaders with the planning and execution of departmental programs, trainings, and campus events
  • Serve as co-advisor to the Student Government Association and support them in program and leadership development

Programming

  • Develop and implement programs for students that promote student engagement, contribute to a vibrant campus life, and encourage student development, leadership development (e.g., DU LEAD), organizational development, and interpersonal skills
  • Serve as a key resource for event planning, execution, and assessment in the director’s absence, ensuring alignment with the goals and standards of the Office of Student Involvement
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of department signature events, including DU Fest, Late Night Breakfast, and the Student Leadership Celebration
  • Collaborate with Event Services on program implementation
  • In coordination with the Director, negotiate contracts with agents, vendors, and performers while maintaining University policies and guidelines; serve as a signor of contracts for event planning in OSI and for student organizations

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Assist with maintaining and supervising the Student Involvement Resource Center and The Underground game room
  • Serve as the marketing manager for OSI in coordination with the Director, GAs, and marketing interns
  • Advance the University and the Division of Student Success & Engagement’s strategic plan for student success through participation in goal setting, program implementation, committee/task force work, and assessment efforts
  • Attend meetings on a regular basis including, but not limited to: staff meetings, professional development sessions, SSE Divisional meetings, committee meetings, and meetings with students and supervisors

Supervision

  • Supervise a team of Student Involvement Resource Center (SIRC) employees
  • Meet regularly with supervisees on an individual and group basis

Other

  • Perform other duties as requested, delegated, or assigned
Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in college student personnel, higher education or related field required
  • 1-3 years of programming, event management, student life or student development experience required, inclusive of graduate assistantship experience
Salary and Benefits

Salary and FLSA Status

FLSA Status: Exempt 37.5 hours.
