The University of Kansas in Lawrence is seeking a Student Program Manager of Sports for the fall 2026 semester to support Intramural Sports operations. You will oversee participants, schedule events, and coordinate a large calendar of more than 30 sports and activities with a team of student staff.
This hourly, non-exempt role requires strong written skills and experience in team sports, with certifications in CPR/AED and NFHS Concussion In Sports.
Intramural Sports is seeking a dynamic Student Program Manager of Sports to begin in the fall 2026 semester. This position will have supervision from the Assistant Director for Intramural Sports and will work closely with the Recreation Services professional staff. This opportunity will offer the student with a comprehensive and engaging experience to further enhance their career and professional development. Two Program Managers of Sports assist in the daily operations of the Intramural Sports program which include organizing events, communication with participants and staff, and entering data into various software programs.
Working in collaboration with other Intramural Sports Program Managers, this individual is also responsible for creating, executing, and evaluating over 30 sports and events. A Student Intramural Sports Program Manager of Sports must maintain a complete knowledge of the Intramural Sports program. This individual will maintain daily office hours Monday - Friday and may work weekend hours on a limited basis.
60% - Overseeing Intramural Sports Participants and Teams
15% - Scheduling
15% - Leading Staff Meetings and Trainings
5% - Supervising and Officiating All 6 Team Sports as Needed
5% - Other Duties as Assigned
During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: (1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or (2) be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or (3) be enrolled in summer session or (4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).
(1) Student employees are not eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved by the unit leadership and HR.
(2) This is an hourly/non-exempt position. A student employee cannot hold an hourly/non-exempt position and a salaried/exempt graduate or undergraduate position (GRA/GTA/GA/RUA/RGA) concurrently.
