The City of Hallandale Beach offers a professional internship within its Emergency Management Program. Under supervision, interns gain hands-on experience across planning, preparedness, mitigation, response, and recovery, culminating in a capstone project that adds value to the program.
Graduate students selected will support research, training, exercises, and EOC readiness while developing analytical, organizational, and report writing skills through mentorship and real-world projects.
Under the general supervision of the Emergency Management Coordinator, performs professional-level internship work in support of the City's Emergency Management Program. This position provides graduate students with practical, hands-on experience in municipal emergency management through participation in emergency planning, preparedness, mitigation, response, recovery, continuity of operations, public education, and Emergency Operations Center (EOC) readiness. The intern assists with research, planning initiatives, training, exercises, and operational projects while gaining exposure to local, county, state, and federal emergency management practices. The internship emphasizes professional development through mentorship, project-based learning, and real-world operational experience, culminating in the completion of a capstone project that provides lasting value to the City's Emergency Management Program.
