Job summary

Entergy invites applicants for a Summer 2027 Student Intern position in Distribution Project Delivery Engineering. You will work with engineers and team leaders to learn design of overhead/underground distribution systems, project planning, and stakeholder interfacing while upholding safety practices.

Responsibilities include design-based tasks, one-line drawings, quantity validation, construction project support, as-built documentation, weekly planning calls, and data mining for distribution

Qualifications

  • Must be actively pursuing a bachelor's, master's or PhD in EE/ME/CE and at least a sophomore.
  • Majors: Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil engineering.
  • Junior, Senior, or Graduate candidates preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist engineers with day-to-day activities in a team setting.
  • Perform design based on project scoping and site visits.
  • Model surveyed field configurations using design software.
  • Prepare one-line drawings and validate estimates.
  • Manage projects in construction and document as-builts.
  • Support data mining and reporting for distribution engineering.
  • Participate in weekly planning calls and special projects.
  • Travel up to 25% may be required.

This position will work with Entergy's Distribution Project Delivery Engineers and Team Leaders to prepare the candidate for potential full time employment. During this time the candidate will learn how to design overhead/underground electrical distribution systems, plan projects, review design packages and interface with stakeholders, while maintaining safe work practices at all times.

Intern Job Description:

Working in a team environment to assist engineers in day to day activities including but not limited to:

  • Performing design based on project scoping and site visits
  • Utilizing design software to model surveyed field configurations
  • Preparing operational one-line drawings
  • Validate estimating prices and equipment units, ensuring material is properly ordered and staged for upcoming projects
  • Managing projects that are in construction
  • Completion of as-built documentation
  • Participate in weekly planning coordination calls
  • Work on special projects to assist in improving grid reliability
  • Responding to equipment failures
  • Support lab testing and operations
  • Support of business analytic processes through data mining and reporting, as well as performing a wide variety of detailed engineering analysis in distribution-related areas such as planning, economic analysis, maintenance, design, project management and construction, and operations

Education Requirements:

  • Must be actively pursuing a bachelors, masters or doctorate degree as indicated above and at minimum classified as a sophomore or beyond.
    • Seeking Electrical, Mechanical, and/or Civil engineering majors.
    • Junior, Senior, or Graduate candidates preferred, but not required.
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of a 2.8 or higher (on a 4.0 scale), verified through an official transcript from the previous semester.
