Job summary

Stanley Consultants, based in Muscatine, IA, is seeking an Electrical Substation Student Intern to gain hands-on experience in substation design as part of a collaborative design team.

You will assist with layouts, lighting, grounding analysis, and coordination with civil and transmission disciplines; must be enrolled in a BSEE program, maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher, and be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Qualifications

• Candidate must be enrolled in a BSEE program at an ABET-accredited University.
• Coursework or equivalent experience in power system analysis.
• Sophomore, Junior, or Senior working toward a BS in Electrical Engineering.
• GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be able to work legally in the United States for an unlimited time without requiring sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• The student will work on developing an understanding of various aspects of Substation Design.
• Assignments may include the design of substation physical layouts, lightning protection, conduit and cable plans, grounding analysis and design, generating single and three-line schematic diagrams, panel wiring, DC schematics, control building and relay panel layouts, lighting design, and coordination with structural, civil, transmission line, and graphics disciplines.
• Will work as part of a design team; could be assigned to more than one project.
