Job summary

Stanley Consultants is seeking an Electrical Substation Student Intern to join our Jackson, MI office. The intern will work on developing an understanding of substation design aspects and coordinate with multiple disciplines.

The position is onsite in Michigan and offers exposure to practical design tasks. Responsibilities include creating layouts, protection schemes, wiring diagrams, and coordination with structural, civil, transmission, and graphics teams.

Qualifications

• Candidate must be enrolled in BSEE program at an ABET accredited University.
• Coursework or equivalent experience in power system analysis.
• Must be a Sophomore, Junior or Senior working towards a BS in Electrical Engineering.
• GPA 3.0 or higher.
• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be able to work legally in the United States for an unlimited time without requiring sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Develop understanding of various aspects of Substation Design.
• Design substation physical layouts, lightning protection, conduit and cable plans.
• Grounding analysis and design; generate single and three-line schematic diagrams.
• Panel wiring, DC schematics, control building and relay panel layouts; lighting design.
• Coordinate with structural, civil, transmission line, and graphics disciplines.
